Three young siblings learn that their father was an ancient immortal warrior cursed with defending our plane of existence from otherworld threats. On his death, the curse of the Vestige was handed down to them.
The trio, Sal, Rac and Kat, are aided on their journey by their talking spirit animals; a Salamander, Raccoon, and a Cat, who help them to learn the powers of natural magic and illusion in order to level up and become pure Vestige.
But the land of the dead is rising with powerful adversaries, the mischievous bird-men, the Tengu, the cunning, shapeshifting Kitsune, and the deadly shadow animals that patrol the otherworld like sentinels.
They must confront their fears, learn to believe in themselves and each other, and unlock the secrets of the ancient scrolls left for them by their father to finally defeat the giant Naga snake that has been sent to tear a void between worlds.
Sal, the elder brother and self-appointed leader of the gang. He's trained in the art of the Katana sword but doubts himself as a warrior. His spirit animal is the mysterious fire salamander, which will help him to harness his newfound powers of magical flame and brute strength in order to become slick, fast and fearless.
Rac, the middle sibling. He’s a young and curious scavenger whose spirit animal is the mischievous raccoon. His hunting tactics mean he's constantly inventing new traps to stay ahead of his enemies. His lethal playfulness always ends in their defeat, but his overconfidence leaves him vulnerable to attack.
Kat, the bundle of energy and the youngest of the siblings. She's nimble in a fight and channels the spirit of the black cat to become a deadly opponent with agile flexibility and lightning reactions. She’s way ahead of her brothers in learning her skills but is held back by their protective nature which means she must try even harder to prove herself.
Book 1
After the tragic death of their father, three young siblings discover that their family has an immortal responsibility to protect our plane of existence from otherworld threats. There is no choice. They must become immortal warriors, known only as Vestige. Their father has left them with a sacred book of scrolls that dictate the rules of the immortal.
Book 2
As the trio begin to unlock the secrets of the sacred book, Sal, the eldest of the siblings, befriends his spirit animal - a salamander - and begins his ancient training. An evil threat watches from the shadows.
Book 3
Rac, the middle sibling, is trained by his spirit animal - a cheeky raccoon. Tengu reveals itself and the youngest child, Kat, disappears along with the sacred book of scrolls.
Book 4
Kat, the youngest child, battles Tengu in its lair and reveals that she has been training with her spirit animal, a cat, and is advanced in the powers of natural magic and illusion. She recovers the book and completes her training to become pure Vestige.
Book 5
Kat unlocks the power to see into the afterlife. She discovers that the otherworld army is preparing to take over the land of the living. A giant Naga snake is summoned by the first-born Gods and threatens to tear a void between worlds.
Book 6
Sal takes a journey to Mount Horai and seeks the aid of the ancient immortals. He completes his training and is given the magical power to defeat the Naga. A Kitsune appears in the form of the sibling’s father, causing Rac to doubt all that he has learned.
Book 7
The trio team up to confront the Kitsune, and with the help of their spirit animals, they level up to become grade one Vestige in time for the battle for the afterlife.
Book 8
The battle begins. The giant Naga snake appears and challenges the trio causing a cataclysmic event leading to the events of The Tetris Effect novel. The young Vestige warriors are separated across the afterlife, leaving our plane of existence vulnerable to otherworld threats.
Ancient Vestige:
Mankind has no idea that Vestiges, spirits, spirit animals, gods and daemons move amongst us. We wouldn’t be able to handle the truth if we were told. Ancient Vestige are reincarnations, born with the role of protecting our mortal world.
Tibetan Buddhist Monks tell tales of being saved in the remote mountains from Tengu attack by a Vestige, but none have the evidence to prove that these events were anything more than a gust of wind and a strange ominous feeling, suddenly lifted. Despite honouring them, no Monk has ever seen a Vestige performing their magical or combat tasks. Vestiges are skilled in protecting their identity and anonymity.
Modern Vestige:
In more recent years, with social evolution; the fast-forward of commercial populations, high rise blocks, cities, and fast global travel, it has become necessary for the Vestige to populate and protect our modern cities.
In order to do so, Vestiges have adopted roles that go unnoticed - mostly in the service industries such as postal services or waste disposal, or as suited businessmen and women. Blink and they will be gone. The role of a Vestige is also now handed down between generations of families.
The only way to become a Vestige is through hereditary inheritance. The role is passed from generation to generation. You do not choose to become a Vestige. It is already chosen.
Vestiges are accompanied and guided by spirit animals. A Kitsune will try to separate a Vestige from their animal, making them vulnerable to attack from a Tengu.
Vestige explores the events leading up to The Tetris Effect - the creation of a crack in the earth that caused the Eight Immortals to become displaced - and for Izanami and Izanagi to become reincarnated as Lars Nillson and Berry Butler.
The world is rich in mythology, folklore and fantasy and there are many characters and stories to explore across motion comic, novelisation, animation and film.
